ENCOD STATEMENT TO THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT

On 19 March 2010, the following statement was printed in the Malaysian newspaper The Sun. It was also presented during picket-line manifestations in front of the Malaysian Embassies and consulates in Copenhagen, Kathmandu, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris (on 4 March 2010) and Vienna (on 8 March 2010). Letters were delivered to Malaysian embassies in Berlin and Brussels.

ENCOD MEETING WITH EU ANTI-DRUGS UNIT

On 3 September 2009, ENCOD Steering Committee members Fredrick Polak, Marisa Felicissimo, Pedro Quesada and Jorge Roque had a meeting with Mr Timo Jetsu and two other Commission officials at the Drugs Coordination Unit (DCU) of the European Commission in Brussels.

The meeting was requested by ENCOD to receive explanation on the current status of the European Action on Drugs and the Civil Society Forum on Drug Policy.

ENCODS LETTER TO THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

On 12 August, ENCODs Steering Committee sent the following letter to Carel Edwards, head of the EU Anti-Drugs Unit, concerning the status of the so-called “European Action on Drugs”

As a result, the SC members had a meeting with Timo Jetsu, NGO liaison officer at the Anti Drugs Unit in Brussels on Thursday 3 September.

The report of this meeting is ready, but we are
currently waiting for an answer from the Commission to confirm that it
does not contain any misunderstandings or misinterpretations. The report
will be published as soon as possible.

EUROPEAN ACTION ON DRUG PROHIBITION

PRESS RELEASE

On 26 June 2009, the European Commission will announce the European Action on Drugs, asking citizens to join efforts to fight drugs. So far only the Foundation for a Drug Free Europe linked with the Scientology Church has reacted positively.

The European Coalition for Just and Effective Drug Policy calls upon the European Union to take genuine action on drugs, namely to end drug prohibition.
