Report from Norwich Smokey Bear’s Picnic
hopefully this year there will be picnics and protests all over the country, static picnics are so easy to get going, just make an event on facebook and spread word of the venue and tell your local press. I know there is one in Reading and one at Stonehenge on the Solstice, possibly Norwich and Kings Lynn.
If you provide a contact and the police get in touch, don’t let them put you off – you don’t need a license for a picnic with no amplified music and even if you do for a particular public open air place it is not criminal. Tell them you can arrange to police it yourselves and will keep children away from any smoking.
The idea being a protest rather than a big toke-up, for now, tell the police and press that you have no control over what people do, that you are sure everyone that tokes will be aware they may be arrested, that it is up to the authorities what to do and if they want to spend taxpayers money with a heavy police presence, people probably will not toke, but if they decide not to, people probably will – and that can go on UNTIL the authorities give us somewhere to go, license somewhere open air, with safety and adequate facilities including disabled WC access and we will be left alone to socialise and toke in peace. UNTIL then, we will have our protests when ans where we want.
Please message me of webmaster@ccguide.org to add your event to the list at
